The Dirt on Cornwall Arms

New Hotel Redevelopment Update

Work continues to move forward at the Cornwall Arms site, with significant progress being made on several key phases of the project.

There are currently three separate contractors working on site simultaneously, each focused on a different aspect of the redevelopment. One contractor is completing the site’s drainage program, another is overseeing the remediation of contaminated soil, the third contractor is constructing the retaining wall.

Contaminated Soil Removed

A major milestone was reached during the week of July 13th, when the property owner began removing contaminated soil.  It was successfully removed from the site per a work plan prepared by their environmental engineers and reviewed by the DEC. The town building inspector, Gary Vinson, is on site three times a day monitoring the progress as needed. Throughout this process, Sterling Environmental, the contractors retained by the owners, were are on site every day during remediation.  Removal efforts included conducting continuous air quality monitoring to help ensure the work was completed safely and in accordance with DEC environmental standards.

Next Up: Pouring Foundation

With these important site preparation activities well underway, the project team is working toward the next major milestone: pouring the building foundation in August if everything lines up. This will mark the beginning of the next visible stage of construction and represents another important step forward in bringing The Cornwall Arms redevelopment to life.

We appreciate the community’s continued patience and support as work progresses and look forward to sharing additional updates in the coming weeks.
